ZERZA is a multidisciplinary office primarily focusing on architecture and design. Inspired by strategies and practices of modern and contemporary art, the office envisions an architecture that, instead of taking a universalist or uniform approach, responds to the particular requirements and challenges of each project. Research and analysis of each site and its specific historical, cultural, social, economic, and political parameters lay the groundwork for a practice that, operating between context and creation, aims to reframe the reality with which the design interacts. ZERZA seeks to create architecture as an invention that is capable of establishing grounds for new ties to the existing setting and structures.
ZERZA actively engages in exchanges of ideas and collaborates with artists and thinkers of all stripes. The office also works in the fields of urban planning, object and interior design and vigorously addresses the challenge of ensuring ecologically sustainable solutions.
ZERZA has won awards in several international competitions and realized projects in Europe and the United States. Projects designed by ZERZA have been portrayed in international publications and presented in various exhibitions, including By The City/ For The City, An Atlas of Possibility for the Future of New York, BMW Guggenheim Lab, New York, 2011, The Greatest Grid: The Master Plan of Manhattan, 1811–2011, at the Museum of the City of New York, 2011 - 2012, Angewandte_Neu: Erweiterung und Sanierung der Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien at MAK, Vienna, in 2012, IDEAS CITY festival, at the New Museum New York in 2013 and most recently Architektinnen in Salzburg - eine Spurensuche, at the Innitiative Architektur, Künstlerhaus Salzburg, 2013 – 2014.
