sadaa was founded by Severino Alfonso in 2006. sadaa is interested in all topics directly or indirectly related to architecture, and works on projects and research of any scale in the fields of architecture, urbanism, and landscape design. sadaa takes responsibility for all the phases of the process.
Since its foundation sadaa has been proactively generating most of its work through self-initiated studies and taking part in open competitions. sadaa is partner with studio PLB as a think tank regarding the meeting point/s of imagery, computation and parametrics in the field of architecture and urbanism. This partnership led to the attractive situation of independence and freedom, making the office flexible and competent.
The office portfolio includes a wide array of projects, ranging from very small low-budget private houses, preservation projects, new typologies for collective social housing to super-multifunctional cultural buildings or hybrid complexes.
sadaa remains continuously active in research and writings, and is a regular writer at Hipo-Tesis. Hipo-Tesis is a thought-platform in embryonic stage based on transversal scientific knowledge emerging from the collection and publication of independent texts. Since 2010 sadaa is academically active in several schools and institutions in New York as an extension to the office’s study projects through courses and research on architecture typology, urbanism, interior architecture, and criticism. Severino Alfonso Dunn has taught courses at the City College of Technology; he is a visiting critic at Barnard College and Graduate School of Architecture at Columbia University in the city of New York.
