I am in my fifth year of architecture at Kansas State University and will graduate in May 2013 with a Masters in Architecture. Whether it’s teaching a stranger how to polka, mentoring a child in sports, or simply starting up conversations, I enjoy collaborative opportunities. Throughout my academic career and internship, I have been recognized for my outstanding communication skills and abilities to benefit the design process through collaboration.
My studies in the Architecture Department at Kansas State University have expanded my creative and critical thinking skills. Through my five years of schooling I have cultivated my ability to communicate through visual representation. I am comfortable working in Revit, Auto-CAD, Sketch-up, the Adobe Suite, Photoshop and Illustrator. I have also worked with Rhinoceros 3-D Modeling Software and Grasshopper.
During my fifth year at Kansas State, I have had the privilege of working in a design build studio for the Girl Scouts of Kansas. I have enjoyed taking a design from conception through creation. Working with real clients has mandated that my time-management methods become even more efficient and even more flexible than that of a regular architecture student. I have enjoyed working closely with classmates, professors, contractors and different suppliers throughout the process, trying to learn as much as possible. Moving forward I hope to continue learning as much as I can about architecture while contributing my skills and ideas to a firm.
