The incessantly growth of world population in next decades will soon make unsustainable the “old” agricultural model that is now the most responsible for the lack and pollution of the basics environmental resources.
A new sustainable way of conceiving agricultural production and its relation with the city is then proposed in the “Agricultural Factory”. This structure is dimensioned to cover all food needs for 100 000 people with the actual food habits, using an indoor high tech agricultural production.
It is composed by structural frames and modules in which goods are grown; the modules are built in loco and added to the struc- ture by cranes depending on the necessities. The agricultural site will move from the fields right into the city to be fully integrated into the distribution net and as close as pos- sible to the final users; the structure is then located in the empty Scalo Farini area over one of the main infrastructure spots of Milano.
