NEW CONSTRUCTION - FIRE STATION
SEPT 2010 - NOV 2011
Manhattan Fire House 3 is one of two new fire stations built for the Riley County Fire Department that I worked on while employed by Anderson Knight Architects.
Fire House 3 is located in an industrial part of Manhattan. To fit this locale, simple forms and an industrial materials palette were selected and applied throughout the project. The project is composed of three major elements - The box of the apparatus bay, a low, slopped bar containing the spaces the firefighters use in their day to day lives, and a tower which houses the radio report room, and acts as an identifying element for the station.
This was the first project I worked on with Anderson Knight Architects. My responsibilities mainly included the finalization of the design for several interior elevations, placement of exposed mechanical systems, completing and coordinating the final CD set, and Construction Administration.
