PRO BONO RENOVATION PLAN AND PROGRAMMING.
FEB 2012 - MAR 2012
The Carriage Factory Gallery is a private art gallery in Newton, KS. It is a historic building with a storied history and important part in Newton's past. The second level of the gallery was being used as an over flow space, as a classroom for community seminars, and as a space for artists' studios. It was worn-down, and served none of these purposed effectively. I was asked by a good friend, who sits on the gallery's Board of Directors, to attend one of their meetings, compile their input and wishes for the space, and create a comprehensive renovation plan for the space.
I, along with a friend, examined the board's needs, and the space's limitations to create a phased renovation plan. We developed each of these phases as independent benchmarks in achieving the total rehabilitation of the space.
Changes suggested ranged from the simple painting of walls, to the construction of new stairs and interior elements. We compiled these suggestions in a graphic presentation consisting of several diagrams, and digital renderings illustrating the space transitioning through each successive phase of remodeling - finally culminating a completely reworked gallery, which better served the needs of it's users.
I presented this information at a later Board of Directors meeting, and delivered the renovation plan, as well as all the presentation material and imagery to the Board of Directors to help them in an effort to raise money to actually realize the project.
