Residential Tower

For this project, we were to commissioned to design 3-4 lofts to house graduate students and faculty members who wish to stay on campus. We were to consider aspects such as orientation, circulation, structure, materials and color, chunky vs fragile, cantilever, repetitive vs unique, and opacity vs transparency.

Using concepts such as open space, natural lighting, comfortable accessibility, square grid and sun orientation allowed for a free flowing design that would allow for an incredible horizon view from any position in the residential tower. The materials used in this tower were stucco, brick, red PVAMU brick, concrete, reinforced steel, reflective glass, and wood. The location of this tower in in Prairie View, Texas. Its front facade is facing west to have a surreal view over the architecture building. The patio space is also used to provide a great view to make a potentially great evening. The ground floor / lobby is a space provided as an entertainment center and it is very spacious. The first floor of the loft is a very open space that has 8' glass panels in 10' high walls. The only solid walls reside in the middle of the loft to allow for more natural light to be poured into the room. The second floor of my loft is a large space that provides everything needed by the leaser such as master bedroom, master restroom, and 2 outdoor patio areas.

First time using Lumion with SketchUp.
