Throughout history women have struggled to gain a voice in society. Their determination, strength, and ingenuity have been at the core of their success and accomplishments. With these, they have shattered expectations, challenged stereotypes, and made their mark on history as we know it. The oldest example of this is perhaps Lucy, the first homo-sapien to walk erect. From this first step in history, women have become influential leaders, scientific thinkers, and artistic visionaries. Women such as Boudicca and Catherine the Great have lead nations through political and social turmoil. Others, such as Marie Curie, Dorothy Hodgkin, and Simone de Beauvoir have made incredible advancements in science and philosophy. Then there are the artists and ground-breakers such as Sappho, Amelia Earhart, Indira Gandhi, and Benazir Bhutto. These women have all succeeded in the face o f non-believers and adversaries. I want to show homage to the heroine, the warrior, the wife, the mother, and the business woman by designing a space that stands as a monument to the true power and spirit of these women, rather than just portraying them as the ‘Cinderella’ character. In order to accomplish this exotic exclusivity and extravagant fantasy, the Freyja hotel will represent a stage in which boundaries of space are blurred by the unexpected, non-linear architecture. Also, by using colors as an expression of corporate identity, a new perspective of emotional qualities will be achieved for the psycho-physical regeneration and recreational relax.
