WARDROBE

[fashion project]

My first attempt to fashion design is inspired by the culture of Japanese people and more specifically by the book of Junichiro Tanizaki “ Praise of the Shadows”.

I have always liked the mystery of dark and of the shadows when after reading this book i made the connection with the body. A cloth is a second skin. It can protect, hide but also reveal different aspects of  our body. We want our clothes to be beautiful but for Tanizaki beauty is cold, dark and discreet.

The first step of my design is to ocver the body with a simple colth in order to observe the shadows that were created above a naked body while the second part was more influenced from the japanese art of origami. I create a kimono origami of fabric, which was multiplied in order to cover the whole body.  Due to the folding technique the body was covered irregular by the fabric.
