Designed to help create a “central city where stately trees line the streets and shopping & dining are just steps away”, Arlington Crossing is the centerpiece to a mid-density corridor in Upper Arlington designed by JLBender Architects, Inc. that includes Arlington Crossing, TownCenter Place and The Shoppes at Arlington TownCenter.
Phase 1 of Arlington Crossing includes 56 high end condominium homes in the heart one of the wealthiest suburbs of Columbus, Ohio. Offering a wealth of unique lifestyle features unparalleled by any other building in its class, Arlington Crossing is Upper Arlington’s premier address for luxury condominium living.
On the exterior we used stone in a random aslar pattern that is constistant with older, stately homes in the area. The stone was taken from the local quarry in Marble Cliff. Brick and stucco were used to break up the mass of the building and to create a more vertical feel. The design attempts to step forward and backward to create a rythmn and break up a massive facade.
The project features seven floor plans, each slightly different on each of four floors, creating unique experiences within each unit. Named for streets in the neighborhood by the developer, Arlington, Berkshire, Cambridge, Dorchester, Edgemont, Fairfax, and Tremont, each unit has high-end finishes, unique lighting and private balconies or terraces. Several units are ADA compliant.
I assisted with the design, in plan, elevation, and section. As well as creating all the Construction Documents, I created individual models using SketchUp and IDX Renditioner for each of the floor plans. We used these models to select interior finishes and furnishings.
In addition to the exterior design, I worked as part of the interior design team, helping to select furnishings and materials for each of the “model units”. I also worked with the developers to manage budget concerns, create and control construction schedules, and kept meeting schedules and minutes.
