“By-Passing Skin Mock-Up” with John Fox (M.Arch ‘11) and Tim VanOudenhoven (M.Arch ‘11)
A highly energy efficient, solid by-passing skin system for a campus chapel. This double poly-carbonate/Aero-gel wall creates a calculated 10.7 R-value rating while allowing for 48% natural-light emissivity. Developed for a northern climate, this arrangement works to minimize energy use for heating and lighting. Silk-screened interior panels warm daylighting and are a visible from the exterior allowing nighttime candlelit activities to be seen.
