Wittman Estes is looking for a full-time Director of Operations to work closely with our Principals to drive the operational and strategic growth of our award-winning firm. The Director of Operations is responsible for managing and overseeing studio operations by implementing efficient, positive, and proactive systems and workflow solutions for the team and clients.

The ideal candidate is a passionate, detailed-oriented critical thinker who can comfortably take on a leadership role in a multitude of disciplines such as human resources, systems and operations, company culture, and client relationships. While a background in architecture is not required, experience or a strong passion for architecture and design will allow the right candidate to jump in quickly and grow into this leadership role.

Note that this is not an architectural role and will not evolve to project-focused opportunities. The right candidate has experience in team management and strong communication and people skills, and is excited to grow this role with our leadership team as a key, valued operational partner in our future vision for Wittman Estes.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Operations: Direct office operations and collaborate with leadership across all aspects of the business, including HR, finance, and administrative tasks. Work closely with the leadership team to consistently evaluate, visualize, strategize, and implement systematic improvements and growth opportunities for the firm.
  • Executive Assistance: Provide day-to-day support to Founder/Principal and leadership team to resolve scheduling conflicts and transition seamlessly across project focuses.
  • Human Resources: Participate in the hiring, onboarding and ongoing training to maintain a highly productive team. Support and guide team members through project work, promoting a culture of creativity, collaboration and curiosity for innovation that aligns with our ethos. Act as a key internal contact for problem-solving, answer-gathering, decision-making requirements through day-to-day team operations.
  • Studio Support: Foster an effective working environment and inspired company culture by keeping supplies, administrative assistance, and office cheer in ample stock.
  • Relationships: Steward a friendly and professional rapport with new and existing clients and vendors, providing a comfortable and welcoming environment for on site meetings and interactions.

Requirements

  • Strong Interest in Architecture and Design
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in an architecture practice or other professional setting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and time-tracking and project management software
  • Experience with Adobe programs including InDesign a plus
  • Strong organizational and management abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an attention to detail
  • Adaptable to the dynamics of long-term project work
  • Candidate must be either a U.S. citizen or have a valid employment visa to work in the U.S. and be located in Seattle, Washington.

Compensation

Compensation is commensurate with experience, ranging between 60-80K­­
